The National Theatre is set to enchant audiences with the world premiere of “London Tide,” a captivating adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “Our Mutual Friend.” Directed by Ian Rickson and adapted by Ben Power, the play promises to be a romantic and propulsive thriller, underscored by original songs from acclaimed singer-songwriter PJ Harvey and Ben Power.

In the heart of the narrative, a stormy night unravels a mysterious death from the Thames, intertwining the fates of two young women, Lizzie Hexam and Bella Wilfer. With the appearance of the enigmatic John Rokesmith, their destinies hang in the balance. Will they sink or swim in the turbulent waters of Dickensian London?
The creative team, led by Ian Rickson, promises a visually stunning production. Bunny Christie’s set and costume design, Jack Knowles’ lighting, and music direction by Ian Ross set the stage for an immersive experience. The play will run at the Lyttelton Theatre from April 10 to June 22, with the press night on April 17.
