FKA Twigs – Striptease

FKA twigs and director Jordan Hemingway have unleashed another powerful chapter in the Eusexua campaign with the visceral “Striptease” music video. Filmed in a stark Marseilles highway tunnel, the visual is a masterclass in tension and introspection, placing twigs amidst the relentless rush of speeding traffic.

The video opens with twigs fleeing an unseen danger, sprinting through the tunnel. However, the narrative quickly pivots to a deeply personal and defiant dance, as she moves with vulnerable strength, seemingly impervious to the cars whizzing past.

Hemingway’s direction amplifies the emotional intensity, employing slow-motion to capture twigs’ gradual shedding of layers—both physical and emotional. As she reveals a striking red dress and continues to divest herself of outer coverings, the video delves into themes of vulnerability and empowerment. A pivotal moment sees twigs levitating above a car, a symbolic act of spiritual ascension and the reclaiming of her body and pain.

The video is unmistakably Hemingway, showcasing his signature blend of rapid-fire montages, intense performance shots, and a surreal, high-fashion aesthetic. Notably, there’s a possible homage to UNKLE’s iconic “Rabbit In Your Headlights” video.

The “Striptease” visual culminates in a powerful metamorphosis. twigs transitions from a state of internal conflict to one of complete self-possession, culminating in a striking pose reminiscent of a high-fashion runway model.

This collaboration between twigs and Hemingway reaches a new zenith, delivering a compelling and visually arresting experience that is essential viewing.
